What is adaptive cycling?
Adaptive cycling is riding bicycles, trikes or quads built with alternative structure or modified and adapted to fulfill the specific needs of the rider. With adaptive accessories and a variety of available equipment

Riding a bike is a special right or passage. It provides mobility, exercise, combats obesity, gets riders out into their community, and provides a sense of joy and freedom. For people with disabilities riding a bike may seem impossible but adaptive bicycles allow riders to experience the ride just like every other person.

Riders may have cognitive disabilities such as autism and down syndrome or sight impairment that may prevent them from riding safely on their own, or physical disabilities that may make it difficult to propel or steer a bicycle. Some riders may have balance issues or fear of falling due to injuries, disabilities or age.

At Bikes For Every Body we believe that cycling can promote inclusion and that there is a bicycle for riders of all ages, sizes and abilities.
A variety of adaptive bicycles are available and most riders don't know where to begin. Our goal is to be your one-stop resource for learning about the available adaptive and alternative bikes, trikes, and accessories as well as helping you find places to see, test ride, and rent or buy the bikes.

We also aim to serve as a resource for health care professionals who may prescribe these bikes for riders with disabilities as well as a resource to help riders find funding for adaptive bicycles.
